Fifty years ago, in August 1976, the former head of the Air Defence Forces Division, Brigadier Jean-Louis Jeanmaire, was arrested on suspicion of having passed on military information and documents to members of the Soviet Embassy in Bern. To mark this occasion, investigative journalist Jean-Philippe Ceppi has produced the documentary «Jeanmaire, un général suisse dans les griffes du KGB», which SRG SSR will broadcast on 18 October 2026 in German and Italian, and on 21 October 2026 in French.
In cooperation with SRG SSR, the Dodis Research Centre is publishing an article by Ceppi on the Jeanmaire affair in the open-access academic journal «Saggi di Dodis». In it, the author reveals new insights into how Jeanmaire was already in contact with an agent of the Czechoslovak intelligence service as a young man. These new sources from the archives of the Czechoslovak security service have been translated into French and can be viewed online in the Dodis database, alongside a large number of other documents to which the article provides direct links.
